Happy New Year with Barry M Amethyst Glitter!

Evening darlings! All set for New Year’s Eve? How have you all chosen to spend it? Whether it’s snuggled up indoors or partying it up hope you all have a fab one! I myself will be opting for the former option & will be heading over to my bestie’s in a bit to see the New Year in with food, girlie gossip & our onesie’s! :D

I really wanted to get one last post up for 2012 & thought what better than a super sparkly NOTD to celebrate the New Year! So if you’re still thinking of getting some glitter on those nails for your party tonight dolls then this beauty is definitely a winner! I dug this glitterbomb out the other day & it was inevitable love at first swatch…Barry M’s Amethyst Glitter!

Ain’t it bloomin GORG? This little stunner is one of the recent pretty glitters that Barry M released & I actually wasn’t going to pick this one up but am so glad I did! To think I could have missed out on this beaut…*clutches chest*

Amethyst Glitter is a stunning combination of tiny blues, purples & pinks finishing off with some gold glitters all jam packed in a clear base…

Here I’ve applied two coats over Barry M Black to get full opacity & really make that glitter POP! Finished with a couple of coats of topcoat to smoothen out the surface & you have a super sparkly manicure perfect for party time!

I have a couple of the other new Barry M glitters that I’m just itching to try out now, if they’re anything like this one then I’m a happy, glitter obsessed bunny :) Ooooh & I also used the PVA GLUE TECHNIQUE with this manicure which I blogged about in my previous post HERE? Look at how easily it came off…a whole nail at a time!

I am definitely loving this technique of quick glitter removal that’s for sure! Have you tried it?

Thanks as always for reading my lovelies! It’s been a pretty awesome year, can’t believe how quickly it’s flown by! Thank you so much for all your support following, commenting & reading my ramblings my fabulous readers, it really means so much to me. I heart you all! See you all in 2013!

Lotsa love to ya!

Glitter Polish Removal Made Even Easier With The PVA Glue Technique! Feat. Topshop Dark Night...

Hellooooo  & Happy Friday my beauts! For those of us who had to grudgingly return back to work after Xmas…HUZZAH! And for the rest of you lucky lot who managed to nab the two days off, hope you’ve had a lovely prolonged break!

If you’re a regular reader of my blog then you’ll know that I am a fan of the glitter. Yup, I do love a bit o’ sparkle action on my nails, sometimes when doing a simple mani I often can’t help myself, by going in with a glitter to add some dazzle & jazz it up! But there is that one teeny tiny tedious thing about glitter polish…it ain’t half a pain in the arse to remove! But fret not dear ones as there are ways to get past all that scrubbing, screeching, hair pulling that usual comes with glitter polish removal! First is of course the blessed FOIL TECHNIQUE which I’ve blogged about in detail HERE. Fab way of getting that glitter of nicely.  However for this it is ideal to have some time going spare which I know a lot of us don’t have! Enter at this point this fab other technique I discovered whilst perusing some of my fav nail blogs & saw a lot of the lovely ladies doing…the PVA GLUE method! I’m clearly late as usual to jump on this bandwagon as it’s been around for a while but my god is it fantastic! The glitter simply just peels off the nail, no more scrubbing & damaging those nails! Yay!

For this all you need is some PVA Glue which is available from most stationary/art shops, a brush & your glitter polish of choice…

Place a blob of the glue on to some card or paper & using the brush apply a coat of the glue on to the nail as you would a base coat…

The glue will take a couple of minutes to dry depending on how thick you apply it (I piled on far too much the first time!) but you’ll know when it is as it dries smooth & clear.

Next you’re ready to apply your glitter polish, for this I dug out this absolutely beautiful Topshop polish that has caught my eye many a times & goes by the name of Dark Knight.

Dark Knight is a stunning mixture of blue & silver glitters in a blue jelly base, so gorgeous! Of this I applied two coats.

Once you’re ready to remove the polish, just grab an orange stick & starting from the sides, lift of the glitter from the nail. Because of the glue, the glitter polish should just peel right off & on some nails the whole coat came off in one go!

Once the glitters off you’re left with clean, polish free nails ready for the next mani!

After using this technique a lot over the past few weeks I’ve learnt a few things along the way too. Firstly this method would most suit if you want a temporary glitter fix! A couple of times I did it & went to work with the mani still on then half way through the day I found I’d lost a nail or two, in that the polish had peeled right off! So this would be absolutely perfect if you want to rock a glitter mani for a night out/birthday/party etc. Just pile on that glitter, & then simply peel off the next morning! Another tip though if you do want it to last a bit longer is to apply a base colour underneath. I’ve done this a few times too & managed to get a couple of days wear. Also I was bit anxious at first at the thought of applying glue to the nails, but like I said, I’ve been using this technique a lot over the past few weeks & my nails are absolutely fine!

So that’s it dolls! Another quick, simple & super easy way to remove glitter polish! *happy dance* Now us glitter addicts can fulfill our needs more often & get our sparkle fix! Woo!

Thanks for reading as always. I’d love to know if you’ve tried this technique too & what you thought!

 Lotsa love to ya!

Sparkly Xmas Day Nails with Colour Club Vixen Glitter Collection!

Greetings my lovely readers! Hope you all had an absolutely wonderful Xmas with your loved ones involving lots of eating, drinking, being merry & that Santa brought you all that you wished for! Today I did plan on at some point casually visiting town at a leisurely pace & braving humanity by hitting a shop or two but am so glad I didn’t now. Not only do I just not DO WELL in crowds, especially crazy, bargain shopping obsessed ones, but instead I used the time much more valuably by eating, napping, drinking endless cups of tea, napping, watching films & napping, whilst squeezing in a spot of online shopping too where some fantabulous bargains were grabbed…a much better outcome I think ;)

I wanted to share with you lovelies the mani I decided to go for Xmas day this year involving lots of my favourite thing…glitter & sparkle! It was the perfect opportunity to try out the new Colour Club Vixen collection polishes that I picked up from TK Maxx & consists of 7 lovely glitter based shades, Silver, Gold, Red, Blue, Green, Lilac Purple & a pretty multi coloured silvery holographic glitter.

I couldn't decide on a single one so just whacked as many as I could for a sparkly glitter skittles mani! As usual with a lot of glitter polishes, the best way to bring out the full sparkly goodness is to apply it on top of a base colour, here I applied each colour on top of Barry M Black.

On the thumb I went for two coats of the gold glitter…

For the index finger I used two coats of the red…

Two coats of the green glitter on the middle finger…

My favourite one of them all, I used the funky holographic glitter on my ring finger. So sparkly & dazzling, I love it!

Finally on the pinkie I went for the blue…

At this point I ran out of fingers so haven’t had a chance to try the Silver or the Lilac purple yet, but judging by these I expect them to be just as fab! Really impressed with how densely packed the glitters are, each nail was just two coats & quick drying. They weren’t too rough to the touch but I still went for a coupla coats of topcoat to smooth them out. Oh & FYI...even though I was wearing all this glitter yesterday, I've already taken it of my fingers & the best part is that it took me just about a minute! If ya want to know how then keep an eye out for that upcoming post! ;D

Thanks for reading lovelies! Have you tried Colour Club polishes? What were you rocking on your nails Xmas day?

Lotsa love to ya!

NOTD - Festive Nails - Christmas Pressies & Holly!

Hello there sweetpeas! So the Xmas break is almost upon us, though I can’t let myself get in to complete full festive veg out mode just yet as I still have to go into work tomorrow!  *wails!* But once work is done then bring on the few days of family time & food comas! The stretchy elasticated pants are on standby…

I thought I could squeeze in one last festive manicure before the seasons up, you could say I’ve definitely gotten in to the spirit of it all with some Xmassy inspired nails including Christmas Puddings, Snowflakes & Starry Nights. Today it’s Christmas Presents & Holly!

I decided to keep on Essie’s Beyond Cozy, which I featured in my previous post, as the base colour as I’m just so in love with it! Definitely my current favourite polish, so beautifully sparkly & festive.

For the sparkly bows of my Christmas Pressies I used a nail art brush & Shade 41 from 2TrueCosmetics, a lovely, satin-y red, first drawing on a cross, and then adding two loops & wiggly lines for the bows & string. To make the bows stand out more & well, because its Xmas & that’s cause enough for more sparkle, I went over them with Nails Inc’s Trafalgar Square which is a gorg red glitter.

For the accent nail I wanted to do something different & have always found Holly to be a very pretty if a tad dangerous leaf, so decided to bung some of those on! Using a dotting tool (or you could just use a toothpick!) & a nameless dark green nail art pen polish I just draw on two lines for each leaf, then went over the sides in a zig-zag like pattern for the prickly edges. To finish I stuck on 3 red nail art stones for my berries, going over with a few coats of topcoat to seal in to place.

Thanks so much for reading, hope you liked the festive manicure dolls! This one received the most compliments & is deffo my fav out of the ones I’ve already done I think. Have you done any festive manicures? Would love to see!

Lotsa love to ya!
